Files

The Files app holds every file in the workspace that belongs to you: what you attach in chat, what you upload, and what agents and tasks write. Open it from Files in the sidebar.

Files are private to you. Another member of the workspace has their own Files and can’t see yours.

Files sit at the top level until you put them in a folder. Click a folder to open it; the top bar shows where you are (Files › Reports › Q3), and each level in it takes you back there.

  • New folder makes a folder inside the one you’re in.
  • Rename and Delete appear when you point at a folder’s row.
  • Move to… puts the selected files and folders in another folder. Pick the destination in the dialog, or make a new folder there.
  • Upload opens a dialog: drop files on it, or choose them from your computer. They go into the folder you’re in, and the dialog states the size limits. You can also drop files anywhere on the list.

A folder is deleted only when it is empty. Deleting one that still holds files or folders is refused, with a note of what is inside, so a delete never removes more than you can see.

Select rows with their checkboxes; Shift-click selects a range. The bar that appears acts on everything selected.

Type in the search box to match file names, descriptions, and tags, and folder names. Press / to jump to it.

Inside a folder, a search covers that folder and every folder below it. Remove the In Reports chip, or choose Search everywhere, to search all your files instead. Each result shows the folder it is in; click that to go there.

The chips under the search box narrow the list further and say how many files each one would show:

Chip Keeps
Documents, Images, Data, Fonts, Other Files of that kind, judged from the file type
From chats Files attached in a conversation
Made by agents Files an agent or a task wrote
Uploaded Files uploaded through Files or an app
Today, 7 days, 30 days Files created in that period

Click a column heading to sort by name, size, or date. The list shows 50 files a page; step through the pages above or below it.

The agent works with the same files through the files__* tools:

  • files__list lists a folder or searches across folders with the same filters as the chips, and can find the files a given conversation or task run wrote.
  • files__create takes a folder path (Reports/Q3) and makes any folder that is missing, so you can ask for a report to be saved to a specific folder.
  • files__move, files__create_folder, files__update_folder, and files__delete_folder organize files the way the app does, under the same rules.

Every file an agent writes records the conversation or task run it came from.
